Bernard Chandran is a Malaysian fashion designer. At age 16, he decided to become a fashion designer. First, Bernard Chandran studied at a local fashion college in Selangor, Malaysia. Later on, he went to a prestigious Paris Fashion School in Paris, France. In 1991, Bernard Chandran joined and won the Open European Contest for the Look of the Year 2000. After polishing his skills overseas in Paris, he returned to Malaysia and set up his own store in 1993. Bernard Chandran was voted a Designer of the Year in Malaysia, in 2003. Also, the designer started to introduce his couture to Europe. He has earned many faithful, elite clients among the Royal families of Malaysia. Bernard Chandran made a real statement with a bold and colorful array of reds, oranges, pinks, electric blues and solid black in his newest collection. The designer used a number of different fabrics: silk, velvet, leather and lace. His designs were innovative with unusual shaping. Bernard Chandran’s execution of the structural detailing gave his collection a futuristic space age feel to it.
