Nicolas Ghesquière’s second collection for Louis Vuitton was presented at the see-through tent on the square in front of the Prince’s Palace of Monaco. The collection echoed references to the Seventies. Nicolas Ghesquière manipulated innovative materials and techniques, retro floral and aquatic motifs, which were unified by contrasting colors. The key looks: short skirt and a combo of belted suit with pants dominated on the runway. There were also refined thin knits, tops with cutout portholes, high-wasted flared pants, fitted leather jackets, laser cut leather mini-dresses, skirts-slips with scalloped hems and so on. Nicolas Ghesquière beautified his designs with variety of embellishments. The silhouettes stayed mostly fitted and flared. For accessories, the designer offered spiked silver belts, an upgraded Petite-Malle bag with a chain handle, a new bag that looked like an open bucket and gladiator sandal-boots. The collection channeled youthfulness, femininity and luxury.
